UQ Research Student Virtual Portfolio (RSVP)

This project has been completed with two test sites, one for engineering students and the other for Sheffield University, currently trialling the application.

The UQ Graduate School has implemented the Carrick award-winning tool Research Student Virtual Portfolio (RSVP™)  across UQ for the benefit of our Research Higher Degree candidates.

The tool assists RHD candidates and their supervisors in documenting skills acquisition and graduate attributes as their candidature progresses.

The Research Student Virtual Portfolio (RSVP™) is an educational, career development package designed to develop research students’ graduate attributes and prepare them for future employment. RSVP™ provides a flexible, time-effective 4-step process for students and supervisors to implement tailored professional development strategies for research students. RSVP™ is systematically modified for each new discipline through facilitated discussion with academics, research-only staff and students.

Each graduate attribute is described in specific disciplinary language and a set of performance indicators developed. Students also begin to compile an organised portfolio of evidence of their achievement of each graduate attribute. This becomes a growing resource for them to draw upon when seeking employment.
